Elegant miniature box with hinged lid, opens to 3 small compartments. Copper coated brass body. Enamel portrait of the elephant headed Indian god Ganesh - the "remover of obstacles" -- is fused in striking relief on the lid. Color of image is deep red against ochre yellow. Size 3"x2.75" and just under 1" high. Suitable for a variety of uses -- as tabletop decor, a small jewelry box, or unique gift box. Traditionally intended as a container to store "kum kum" -- the powder with which women apply the red dot or "bindi" to their foreheads.
